Sonny is introduced in the first cutscene of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He is seen talking to some of his men about Tommy Vercetti, who was just released from prison. Sonny sends Tommy Vercetti down to Vice City to make a drug deal, along with Ken Rosenberg and a couple more of his men. After the deal is busted, Sonny allows Tommy to handle getting the money and drugs back due to their past history.

Sonny doesn't make another appearance in person until the end of the game, but he does contact Tommy at various other points in the game on his cell phone to check up on his progress. Eventually, Sonny begins to find out that Tommy is building an empire, rather than working to retrieve Sonny's money. Some of Sonny's later phone calls indicate that he is losing his temper. He does not make any appearances in any other games.

At the end of the game, Tommy tries to pay Sonny off with some counterfeit money, but Tommy's supposed friend, Lance Vance, betrays him and tells Sonny that the money isn't real. Sonny sends his men to kill Tommy, but Tommy eventually kills them all, and Sonny, in his mansion.
