Ryder was a member of the Grove Street Families in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas before he turned on them to get into drugs with Big Smoke. At the start of the game he is one of the most senior members of the GSF, and goes on a number of missions with Carl Johnson. He is also known to smoke a lot of weed. He is killed later in the game.

Ryder was the Grove Street Families weapons and ammunition master. He robbed weapons from soldiers, an army base and trains loaded with ammo.

Ryder always comments on CJ's driving, with funny comments like no ''Don't try to park us to up a tree or something'', Also Ryder was the most swearing character in the game. Ryder was in school but then he went to high school he kicked-out for using drugs, and harming his teacher because he was wearing Ballas color.
