Lance is introduced in the first scene of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He is seen flying a helicopter owned by his brother, Victor Vance who is making the deal with Tommy Vercetti. His brother is gunned down during the deal, setting the game's plot in motion. In the second mission of the game, he approaches Tommy and they team up to find out who busted their deal. Lance also appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, as a main character.

Lance offers back reinforcement for Tommy in later parts of the game, and makes an appearance in many cutscenes. Eventually, Lance begins saying that Tommy isn't treating him properly, or giving him a big enough cut. Tension rises between the two characters from this point on.

At the end of the game Lance betrays Tommy and tells Sonny Forelli that the money Tommy is giving him is counterfeit. He joins Sonny and attempts to kill Tommy. Tommy chases Lance up to the roof of his mansion and kills him.

Lance appears in Vice City Stories as a main character, helping his brother Vic, the playable character. The two are aiming to build an empire from Vice City's massive drugs-trade.
